Welcome to the catalogue of the Archive of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory

The EMBL Archive exists to capture, preserve and share the documentary heritage of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. The EMBL Archive holdings include unique materials relating to life sciences research at EMBL and in Europe since the mid-twentieth century.

This catalogue necessarily uses archival terminology. You may find the following resources helpful to clarify some terms: the International Council on Archives' "ISAD(G): General International Standard Archival Description" or the Society of American Archivists' "Glossary of Archival and Records Terminology". Please don't hesitate to contact the EMBL Archivist for further help if needed.
